the art of natural living starts here...
Pattern is easier to live with than it looks. Most rooms that feel effortlessly layered follow the same quiet rules: one print leads, one supports, and everything stays within a single colour family. Here is how I pair La Semilla Casa prints in my own home.
Choose the print you love most and give it the largest surface — drapery, a Roman blind, or a hero pillow. Larger-scale botanicals like Laguna Palms, Cockatoo Palms or Zebra work beautifully here, because the linen lets the pattern breathe.
2. Vary the scale
Prints sit happily together when they're different sizes. Mix at least two of these:
Two large prints side by side will compete. A large print with a small one looks intentional. Pair Laguna Palms with Steiner Petite, or Cockatoo Palms with Ladder, and each print gives the other room to breathe.
3. Match the tone, not just the colour
Two blues won't always sit well together. What matters is tone: how light or deep a colour is, whether it leans warm or cool, and how soft or saturated it looks.
Every La Semilla Casa print sits on the same off-white linen base, so the designs share a common thread before you even start. For a quick test, lay your samples together, step back and squint. If nothing jumps out, the tones are working.
On a sofa or bed, anchor each end with a 22" square in your statement print, layer a 20" coordinate in front, then finish with a 12" × 20" lumbar. For a full, plump look, choose an insert about 2" larger than the cover.
Many of these designs are also available as wallpaper through Milton & King. One client outside Sydney hung Laguna Palms wallpaper in her bathroom and dressed the window in the same print on linen — one design, wall to window.
Not sure which prints belong together? Order a few memo samples and lay them side by side in your own light. It is the easiest way to see a pairing before you commit.
